Essen 2007: Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line

Just three weeks after market introduction of the Tiguan, Volkswagen is presenting a sporty R-Line equipment packages for the new SUV at the Essen Motor Show. An interior and an exterior package are offered. The two R-Line packages can be ordered right in the new car configuration. Since R-Line equipment takes a dynamic approach, it is exclusively available on the Sport & Style version of the Tiguan. The R-Line program celebrated its debut in 2007 on the Golf, Touran, Passat and Touareg.

"Exterior" R-Line package

Although the extensive R-Line equipment packages are tailor-made for each model series, there is one common identifying feature that unifies all of the models: the "Omanyt" type alloy wheels. In the case of the Tiguan, it is a 19 inch wheel with size 255/40 R19 tires. Moreover, the Tiguan "Exterior" R-Line package is marked by an entire series of specific body modifications. Volkswagen design developed all body parts in parallel to overall vehicle development, and so it was possible to work them into the style on the new SUV in an especially homogeneous way.

R-Line features include bumpers painted in car color with redesigned lower areas, a diffuser (painted black) integrated in the rear bumper, and in front a radiator grille screen with dual louvers in "matte chrome". Standard equipment includes fog lamps as well.

In its side profile, black wheel well extensions – and door add-on parts that are painted in car color in the look of the side skirts – provide for an even more distinctive design. In addition, chrome inserts in the door add-on parts underscore the sporty-luxurious character of the Tiguan. On each side of the car, at the height of the A-pillars, visual reference is also made to the sporty R-Line features in the form of a logo. Furthermore, the so-called dynamic chassis is also on board, equipped with a sportier suspension tuning.

The "Plus" R-Line package

Tiguan buyers can choose the R-Line "Plus" package either additionally or separately. Customers selecting this package get the "Omanyt" alloy wheels and dynamic chassis that are always an R-Line feature.

The interior, meanwhile, gets an even sportier character with its sport seats (front) with R-Line logo embossed in the headrests and seat covers in "Monte Carlo" design as well as a multifunctional leather steering wheel. The brake and accelerator pedals are covered with special caps consisting of a metal and non-skid rubber structure. As an option, the "Plus" R-Line package may also be extended by adding leather sport seats.
